Danish telecommunications regulator Telestyrelsen reports that at the end of 2005 there were more Danish mobile phone subscriptions than inhabitants.

In December 2005 there were 5.47 million mobile phone subscribers, a penetration rate of 100.8%. The fixed line penetration rate was 61.7% at that time, with around 25% of Danes on broadband.

Nokia has meanwhile raised its estimate of global sales of mobile phones this year to 915 million units, up 15% over 2005.
